Don't purchase if you're expecting the wit, charm, believability and interesting stories of Lucy Maud Montgomery. This author unfortunately, is an extremely poor substitute in my opinion.

Song of the Night Road to Avonlea edition by Fiona McHugh Children eBooks Reviews

***A truly enjoyable read. Although these books are geared towards children, I find them to be a nice light feel-good story that soothes my soul. I enjoyed the television shows and I enjoy the stories written in book form just as much (if not more).
This is based on an episode of the ROAD TO AVONLEA television series that spanned seven years and 91 episodes. This story involves Aunt Abigail, Uncle Malcolm and Janet going to the based on "OLD LADY LLOYD" from the 1st season (Disney renamed the episode SONG OF THE NIGHT) starts with Sara in Old Lady Lloyd's mansion by accident and being caught! It turns out that Miss Lloyd's old beau's daughter is in town and she longs to be friends with her! These stories are very heartwarming and set at the turn of the century in the town of Avonlea on Prince Edward Island, Canada.
These RTA series of books are based on the television series that ran for seven seasons during the 90s. The show is beloved by fans and is one of the best family-friendly shows ever screened on television. I have all the DVDs and watch them every year. These stories follow the television episodes quite faithfully.

This story was televised in Season One as "Old Lady Lloyd". Sara discovers a recluse named Old Lady Lloyd in the decrepit Lloyd mansion. Everyone assumes she is a mean, rich, old lady. The truth is that she has fallen on hard times and a past tragedy has left her leading the life of a recluse. When an aspiring singer Sylvia Gray who is also Aunt Olivia's childhood friend comes to Avonlea for a visit, Old Lady Lloyd realizes that Sylvia is the daughter of her old love. She would like to help Sylvia achieve her dream of becoming a professional singer, but her pride keeps her from seeking the help of a wealthy cousin. It is left up to Sara and friends to sort things out. This story is perfect for young adult readers and also fans of the show who wish to collect these books as keepsakes of the show.
Don't purchase if you're expecting the wit, charm, believability and interesting stories of Lucy Maud Montgomery. This author unfortunately, is an extremely poor substitute in my opinion.
