From afar, I have admired her. Stacy is headstrong and independent, focused on her career alone. But the more I get to know her, the more I find myself breaking my one and only rule—never fall in love, especially to a human.
She has vowed to never love again, and I am determined to change her mind. But can love abound a whole universe of differences?

This is the first book I have read by this author and I believe she will have a large fan base before too long. This story is about a group of alien generals who come to earth to scout out the planet as a possible new home for their people. Their planet is dying and they must determine if earth is safe for their relocation. A previous scouting party disappeared and the generals are tasked with finding out what happened to them. While trying to assimilate to the culture, Zarack becomes infatuated with a local florist names Stacy. The story follows their courtship, the ultimate revealing of Zarack's real form and the search and recovery of the previous landing party. This was a good first story and I am anxious to read the next book in the series.Product details

Zarak Scifi Alien Invasion Romance The Mating Games Book 1 edition by Zoe Shea Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Zarak's planet was dying and all the generals were sent to Earth to find a place for their people. They had also sent scouts before but they had all disappeared. Part of their mission was to figure out what happened to them. While searching Zarak met Stacy. They were instantly attracted to each other. The story continues, but you'll have to read it for yourself. It was a fun, quick read. The romance interactions were a little choppy, but I think it was because the story was quick and the characters weren't able to fully develop. All in all I enjoyed reading it.
I received an ARC copy of this book and voluntarily reviewed it.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book and have opted to provide this honest review.
I typically like paranormal/alien/shifter romances, but this one left me feeling a little disappointed.
It wasn't a bad book, it was ok. There was too much focus on the "mission" of Zarak to be considered romance in my opinion. I didn't get the "feels" over the love scenes like I typically do either. I guess I felt my focus shift too much.
It took about an hour to read this book. You may love it. I'm only human, not an alien-shifter, so I could very well have this one pinned wrong. But, it was just OK to me. I would try another book from the writer, though. I always give second chances.
This is a very good series opener and KU library read. Zarak is an Army General from the dying planet Megleron. He is sent to Earth, a planet compatible with their species, along with other generals, to discover what happened to a group of their best who were sent to Earth months earlier and who disappeared within days. Once on Earth, he meets and is drawn to Stacy, a florist. But as they are getting to know each other, one of the generals disappears and another is found drugged. The search for their missing comrade takes the generals to a secret compound and a lead to the members of the earlier exploration group. And the journey Zarak must take will lead to a decision that will change his life forever.
I really enjoyed this story of aliens among us and am looking forward to the next book in the series.
I couldn't get far in this book due to the simplistic writing and punctuation errors. This has short, choppy sentences at the "Jane and Dick" level, and there seems to be no real comprehension of how commas work and where they should be placed. Too distracting to enjoy.
I haven't read a lot of alien romances, but the ones I have read, I've really enjoyed, so I thought Zarak sounded like something I would enjoy, and I did! I like that Zarak wasn't just one big sex scene, but actually had an interesting story to it; now, don't get me wrong, there is sex in this book, and it was hot! Zarak is an alien, whose planet is dying, so he and a team of other aliens are sent to Earth to see if it is suitable for his kind to move there, and also find a group of his people that went missing about a year ago on Earth. Once on Earth, Zarak and his team begin their search for their missing people, and despite it being forbidden, Zarak is attracted to a human woman, Stacy, and as they grow closer, Zarak worries how she will feel when she finds out he isn't from Earth; especially since Stacy has some trust issues. The sex to story ratio was good, and I liked all the characters in the book. I do wish a bit more time was spent on Zarak and Stacy's relationship, but this is a fairly short book, so I understand some things need to be glossed over a bit. I also wish there was a little bit more drama to things; everything just seemed too easy, and it would've been a little more exciting for the action scenes to pack more of a punch. There's a bit of a side storyline with Stacy's landlord that think fell flat, and I think it could've been used to create a bit more drama in the story. The story is interesting though, and I liked where the story is going, and I would like to see where these characters go. I think each book is going to be about a different couple, which is cool, and I'm looking forward to reading where the story is going to go, but I would like to have more story about Zarak and Stacy too, so I'm hoping there will be more for them. There is one thing that I really didn't enjoy in this book, and it is a bit of a spoiler, so I'm giving warning, but it isn't a plot spoiler, so it isn't too bad of a spoiler, so SPOILER WARNING!!! So, there is a sex scene between Zarak and another woman, and it is detailed, and I absolutely hate that in books, so I didn't enjoy that part one bit. It is before he meets Stacy, but I still hate when authors have detailed sex scenes between the Hero or Heroine with other people, so I skimmed past the whole thing, so if you don't like that type of thing, definitely skim right past that part. Since I skimmed it, it didn't ruin the story for me.
I really enjoyed reading this book, it has a great storyline. Can't wait for more from this author.
Poorly written. Everything was spoon fed to the reader. The dialogue was stilted. The timelines didn't sync. I only finished because I don't like not finishing a book.
